Hello.

I am a photographer based on Exmoor in the south west of the UK. I take photos of a wide variety of subjects, ranging from beautiful remote landscapes to small, seemingly mundane corners of the most urban environments.

I first stated taking photographs for their own sake during my time at art college. Even then I was drawn to the less obvious shots, images that ask questions as well as giving answers. The images you see on my site cover a timeframe that spans over 15 years, from several different countries and continents.

Gear

What I shoot with is not a result of brand loyalty, merely finding a system that works and with which I can get the results I want. Below is a lineup of my current body, lenses & accompanying equipment.

Nikon Z8

The heart of the setup, the Z8 is a camera that has quickly become something like an extension of my hand during the fairly short time I’ve owned it.

Nikon 24-120mm f4 S

By far my most used lens. It’s the ideal combination of focal range, quality and size. Not the fastest perhaps but enough for my use cases.

Tamron 70-300mm

I really value longer focal lengths, even when shooting landscapes or urban environments. I also value ergonomics and ease of use. This lens gives me extra reach without demanding I carry several kilos to get it.

Nikon 50mm f1.8 S

As much as I love using zoom lenses for their versatility, using a prime removes indecision about focal length and places a creative limitation on my shooting. Perfect for when I want to be as light and mobile as possible.

DJI Mini Pro 5

A new addition to the arsenal. The Mini Pro 5 is a fantastic little piece of kit that has allowed me to capture shots previously inaccessible to me, wether that’s a few hundred feet up overlooking the landscape or hovering over the surface of the ocean.
